Erosion Control

Irrigating Sloped Areas
The High Desert varies greatly in elevations and many homes have slope areas. Proper landscaping can keep slopes from sliding or eroding. Planting on sloped areas requires a specialized approach to irrigation and a selection of suitable plants.

Drip irrigation is the most water efficient and it also:
  • Keeps weeds down by putting water only at the roots of desired plants
  • Lessens erosion from run-off caused by sprinkler systems
  • Can be placed and moved on difficult sloped areas

Trees and shrubs in containers planted on slopes should be watered using drip emitters.
